Container Refrigerated
access - Port of New Orleans
Infinity was responsible for the civil engineering design as well as construction administration for the Napoleon Yard’s new refrigerated container storage area at the Port of New Orleans. Infinity’s design scope included the layout of the new container storage area, the foundation for new pavement, placement of protection bollards/barriers, and pavement striping.
The paving designs consisted of concrete on a compacted stone base, adhering to the Port of New Orleans standard details. The removal and replacement of the concrete required saw cutting, removing the old concrete, and excavating/trenching the base for new conduits. A new stone base was installed and compacted to 95% of maximum dry density at optimum moisture content. The stone base was encapsulated with an approved geotextile fabric.
The concrete has a specified design flexural strength of 900 psi and a modulus of elasticity of 3,000 ksi. The pavement system was designed for a cargo container live load of 1000psf.
