Marine Engineering Capabilities
Infinity has the unique ability to integrate all of our in-house disciplines when working above, over, and underwater. Across our engineering disciplines, the Infinity team collectively holds considerable expertise in marine engineering, particularly ship and barge terminal design.
Headquartered in South Louisiana, within the Mississippi River industrial corridor, Infinity has first-hand experience with facilities that rely upon marine berths and wharves as part of their import/export operations. Infinity has designed, modified, and analyzed ship berths that receive small Handimax chemical carriers, midsize Panamax and Post-Panamax grain carriers, Aframax bulk liquid vessels, and large Suezmax crude oil carriers. Whether liquid, bulk, grain, crude, or LNG, Infinity has the experience and expertise to devise marine solutions that work.
Infinity has the unique capability to perform OPTIMOOR simulations. OPTIMOOR is a highly specialized program that models mooring conditions at a ship berth. Berth geometry, ship size, vessel draft, river current, and wind are each combined in the evaluation of various mooring patterns based on an assumed combination of ropes and wires. This analysis will predict mooring line stresses, bollard loads, and vessel movements, each of which is critical in the safe operation of a ship berth.
With clients across the Gulf Coast, from the Port of New Orleans to the Port of Houston, Infinity’s vast amount of marine experience can be applied to engineering designs as well as marine terminal inspections utilizing advanced measurement technologies −aerial drone, laser scanning, and remote hydro survey.
