IMTT GEismar Dock #4
Design & Construction
Infinity served as the prime consultant responsible for all structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering for the design of a new ship and barge dock at IMTT’s Geismar Terminal. Additionally, Infinity provided construction administration services; thereby overseeing the project from conception to completion. The goal of the project was to expand the dock capacity on the river by establishing a new ship and barge dock immediately upstream of an existing dock.
Infinity designed the new dock, located on the Mississippi River, in line with the current dock such that the two share one common fenderline. The dock itself is a small rectangular deck area with a hose tower on top; servicing ships up to 650 feet in length and 45 feet of draft. Flanking the dock are independent breasting and mooring dolphins for both barges and ships. A new pipe rack and walkway were constructed to tie into the existing rack just behind the existing dock.
CIVE Wharf Rehabilitation &
New Crane System
Infinity provided the engineering designs for a new wharf deck to be placed over an existing 100-year-old timber wharf at the Port of Houston. The new 800 linear foot concrete wharf deck was designed to accommodate a new 175 lb rail system for a ship unloader. The deck was also designed to support HS-20 18-wheeler loads and a live load of 150 pounds per square foot.
Additionally, Infinity designed the new crane rail system and ship unloader crane. The crane was designed to hold down locations to prevent overtopping during a hurricane, as well as rail stops for the crane to prevent overtravel. Infinity also provided support to field construction crews.
Cornerstone New Mississippi
River Dock
Infinity acted as the prime consultant responsible for all civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical designs associated with the design and construction of a replacement ship/barge dock at Cornerstone’s Dock Facility in Waggaman, LA.
The new dock, located on the Mississippi River, was designed to function as part of the existing dock facility of three (3) additional cells. These cells provide loading and unloading functionality to the plant. The new dock is a rectangular deck area with a hose tower on top. Flanking the dock are independent breasting and mooring dolphins for both barges and ships. The dock is fed by a new section of piperack and bridge that ties into the existing and undamaged portion of the dock facility.
